National Pastoral Planners Network

The NPPN Executive serves the National Pastoral Planners Network whose purpose is to promote and strengthen a culture of planning for mission and evangelisation within the Catholic Church in Oceania. We engage pastoral research and best practices in church growth to offer experience, knowledge, resources and processes that enable dioceses and parishes to advance the mission of Jesus Christ under the guidance of the Spirit.

Promising uptake of Renewing in Adelaide Archdiocese

“Renewal” is the key initiative of the Adelaide Archdiocese which aims at the renewal of parishes, communities and schools, and the re-engagement of young people and young families. The diocese has held several forums and every parish has been visited and engaged in discussion around eight markers of a renewed parish that were developed by the Renewing Parishes Task Force. Ongoing engagement with parishes, schools and communities will continue as together the diocese works towards a diocesan gathering in late October.

In June 2016, the Adelaide Archdiocese’s Office for Renewing Parishes launched its new e-newsletter, Renewing! Intended to link the over 50 parishes within the archdiocese to one another, early feedback has been positive and encouraging. The number one request from parishes has been for a way to share ideas with one another. The monthly e-newsletter acts as an electronic ‘central market’, where parishes can offer, and discover from others, constructive, innovative and emerging renewal initiatives. The vision is of resources being shared in common, facilitating a hub for all things ‘renewal’ – certainly not the diocese telling parishes what to do, or how to do it. Within weeks of its launch, nearly 500 people are subscribers to Renewing!

Renewing! utilises the MailChimp email platform to design and deliver regular e-newsletters (see The tool is effective and relatively easy to use, but still relies on an attuned ear and discerning eye to notice the many expressions of renewal at work within the diocese – and to encourage a mindset of sharing and cooperation. The Office for Renewing Parishes will closely monitor parish engagement with the e-newsletter over the next 6 months.  To become a guest subscriber, or simply to find out more, email
